The Winner

We wanted to celebrate the real heroes of your workplace, and give them a trip to NASA.
Just ’cause they are awesome.
The Campaign
They don’t get to attend fancy awards dinners like marketing does. They don’t wield power like finance does. And they definitely don’t get to lunch in fancy restaurants like the sales team.
They normally live in those parts of the office where no one goes, with no windows and worn carpet. Yet this is one bunch of guys and girls we’d be royally stuffed without. They keep the engines of business running… like inter-office networks and point-of-sale and accounting systems. And they have to deal with our petty problems like ‘I can’t print’, or ‘I can’t find the on switch’.
Kordia, New Zealand’s only major telco dedicated to business, is giving IT people their time in the sun, and the chance to win a trip for two to the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida. But we need you to nominate them! It’s time to acknowledge the unsung hero in your business. That guy or girl with super-human powers who keeps your vital business systems running – and lets you buy stuff on Trade Me in your lunch hour.
The Grand Prize
- A trip for two, including return flights, to Orlando, Florida, USA.
- A tour of the Kennedy Space Centre Visitor Complex.
- Five nights accommodation.
The Solution
Working with Chemistry Interaction, Node developed a responsive site for desktop, mobile and tablet staggered over 6 weeks, across 3 different rounds. The first round focussed solely on nominating someone in your IT department worthy of the award. The process involved the user nominating someone else, and uploading a photo and blurb about their person and why they should win. A series of emails to both the nominee and nominator were sent out and also invited others to share and co-nominate this person for the award. At the end of this round we tallied the nominations and put through the top 10 nominees into the next round. The finalists round!
During the finalists round, we showcased each finalist, creating video stories around each person and asking all those involved to vote for their favourite person, most worthy of the award. People who voted and nominated were also rewarded by random spot prizes of iTunes gift cards and the office with the winning votes won an office shout!
The final round was showcasing our winner Edward Minnell!
The Results
With over 2,000 nominations and nominees, the campaign was a huge success creating an amazing inroad for communications from Kordia to exactly their target audience – IT business telco decision makers. Supported with a Facebook ad campaign that generated over 11million impressions and captivated an engaged audience of over 50,000, its not difficult to say that the campaign created a massive amount of brand awareness among the target audience.
